The God of Love

Greetings everyone!

Like I've said in the last entry, we are trying to work on our pacing, so here you have it: a brand new entry!

We've already introduced Psyche; so now it’s time to talk about the other half of our lovely couple, so, without further ado, let’s talk about Eros!

As the offspring of Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty, Eros has to be ridiculously good-looking. He’s well-built, blue-eyed, and blond, since he’s a god and there has to be something ethereal about him; that, or my illustrator is fascinated by blond men. (sorry Eirini but I just couldn't resist! :-p)

Eros' progression; charming from day one! ;-)

All jokes aside, we used the most common depiction of Aphrodite (you've got that right, gorgeous, blonde and blue-eyed) and Eros inherited all those characteristics too; so really, it's all about genetics!

We’ll talk more about Aphrodite later on, but for now, you can check how Eirini pictured her here and see the family resemblance too! :-D

Picking Eros’ clothes was easy; we immediately agreed on the style and colour and then (because we are perfectionists and the results had had to be just right), we put the two of them together in one panel to see if the colours matched.

Even the colours of their clothes had to match...how cute is that? :p

...and that's a wrap for today's entry!

Coming up next: the first draft, editing, and collaborators' bonding too!

  1. Oh my! Eros is a ...God! Where can I find a poster for my wall?
He he! Excellent work once more! I had an idea from your blog's banner but seeing the whole of him is sooooooooo...much better :P
As for Aphrodite, my first thought was: Poor Psyche!
Great depiction! And a very strong character! She certainly has all the arrogance and the air one would expect from the goddess of beauty! Congrats on the facial expressions! I sure wouldn't want to make her angry :P
Love the hair and I think green is an excellent choice! I will agree with the comment on the folds of the dress. Super work indeed! Last but certainly not least: Myrto you are doing a fantastic work with the presentation of your characters! Very witty and delightful to read!
    Till next time :D

  2. Firstly, I can't even put into words how much your enthusiasm and your support mean to us! Seriously, we really appreciate it, so thanks!

Secondly, I couldn't agree with you more; I also happen to think that Eirini's depictions are absolutely brilliant, and it's all those details you've mentioned that make it even more so! (subjective much? :p )

And I am very glad you like the writing too; once again, thanks! (am I good at handling compliments or what? :p)

Lastly, I will let you in on a secret; I am in love with fictional characters and Eirini is to blame! :p

  3. Bonjour!
You are both doing such a great job, the least I can do is offer a little moral support! And if Eirini keeps drawing like that I think we will all be in love with your fictional characters! A little crash is already there :P
Depending of course on what words you put in their mouths :P

    1. Your support is more than a little, trust me!

The words match the faces, and the faces match the words, with the ultimate goal of making everyone fall in love with them! :p

  4. Myrto had it, I knew it!
She could change my perspective to the better.
By writng "Eros and Psyche" remind me with a funny way that eros, love should be fun!!!
But Eirini is the one that helps me keep my romantic, outdate(???) and girlish point of about love through her extremely romantic and full senses sketches!!!
    Girls, thank you both!!!!!

    1. Who says you can't have both? Love can and (should) be romantic and fun and a million other things that make it a unique experience for each and everyone of us. (here's the author speaking :-p )

As for Eirini's sketches, I don't think I completely agree with you; while they are definitely romantic, they are also humorous and subtly sexy too! (and the banner is a perfect example of that! :-p )

    2. Love can be everything, I agree. But each one of us has a personal perspective about what love is. Anna's love is full of red, senses, romance, dedication and similar "things". But "thanks to Myrto's perspective" I remembered the funny aspect of love.
Finally, Eirini's sketches are mainly/firstly romantic and sensual and secondarily/slightly humorous.
      That's a point of view,.....
      Keep going!

    3. Fortunately we have the unique opportunity to ask the artist herself what her objective was/is while drawing/creating her characters! How often do you get that?
The feeling that I get from them is a pure romantic heart, a flirtatious sensual mood that makes cheeks blush ending with a strong feeling of love and a humorous mood to lighten the awkward moments!
It goes without saying that all the above I expect by the text as well, since Eirini/Myrto is inspiring Myrto/Eirini :P

    4. Katerina, you are the queen of commenting, did you know? :-p

I think your insight on Eirini's drawings is spot on; I couldn't have said it better myself!

What about you Eirini? What do you think? :-p

    5. Katerina thank you once again for your enthusiasm!Really it's overwhelming!
Eros was the most difficult character for me to sketch, because I didn't have an actual idea of how his character would be, how serious or goofy he should be or what colours I should use
the problem was solved after I drew his mother and her signature hair, that's where I decided that it would be good for him to look like his mother but in a cooler na more relaxed way

...because that's how we do things around here; we draw the characters first and then decide on their personality! :-p

I am certainly not complaining though; it may not be the "proper" way to do things, but, hey, it works for us!

    7. First of all, Myrto thank you for my...tiara! Really it is an honour to be acknowledged by a writer for your comments :P (wow too much air in my head I'm feeling dizzy!!!!).
Secondly, I must remind to you both that the best things are done by amateurs! But amateurs in heart and that you are and I think that's how you do things! Your writing and designing are certainly not.
That to justify my newly earned title :P
      Till next time :D

    8. Your title is well earned, trust me! :-p

Your comments are always spot on, and your entusiasm, well, it's really overwhelming!

We can only hope that we'll be half as good as you think we are!

      Thanks!!!!
